"The difficulty of literature is not to write, but to write what you mean; not to affect your reader, but to affect him precisely as you wish." ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Outreach

If this message finds you then you may be
stranded on an island hoping someone
drops a bottle in the water so you
can send your own message for a rescue.
If that’s what you want to do, then feel free.
But if you don’t mind the sand and the sun
and the solitude and a shark or two,
and just occasionally want a few
words with someone stranded in the same seas,
then reply by return of bottle, please.

(This is a response to a prompt at Poetic Asides to write a message in a bottle poem. I used the "Big 10" format created by Robert Lee Brewer, which is simply a 10-line poem with 10 syllables in each line.)
