Something True

It wasn't the words, though the words were kind;
It wasn't the smile, but something behind --
Something that shone out, silently shared --
That convinced me you meant it when you said you cared.

~ Tamary Shoemaker
(From a prompt at Poetic Asides to write a poem with the title "Something ___.")
